Alumni Panel Discussion: Sustainability and Climate Change Solutions in Business

Rachel Permut - Rachel Permut is a commercial and strategy leader with over 20 years of experience scaling clean energy and distributed energy businesses and remains passionate about decarbonizing the power sector. She is currently advising several early-stage sustainability startups. Rachel holds a BA from Wash U, along with an MBA and MS in Sustainable Systems from the University of Michigan.
Caroline Yuandi Ling - Growing up in a Chinese family with scarce resources, I believe in the value of resource efficiency, material circularity and environmental sustainability. My lifelong aspiration is to accelerate the global transition towards a circular economy and help people achieve their full potential along the journey. I am educated as a creative problem solver through my liberal arts degree at WashU, trained as a management consultant through my career at Deloitte, and developed as a pragmatic environmentalist through the MBA/MS Environment joint degree at Stanford. I am currently working at McKinsey Sustainability with a focus on building and deploying data-driven tools and assets for ESG strategies. When I am off my "trash queen" duty, I am fully indulged in sharing my love of tea with people around me as a certified tea sommelier and spreading my passion for lifestyle medicine as a nutrition advocate.
Julia Millot - Julia Millot is the Carbon Accounting and Target Setting Lead at Carbon Direct, working directly with clients on measuring and reducing GHG emissions in line with their science-aligned targets. Julia has over a decade of experience working with clients in the tech, retail, financial, manufacturing, and energy sectors on growth and climate strategies. Prior to Carbon Direct, she led US Climate Advisory at Position Green and ran her own consultancy, Green Opal Advisors, focusing on reducing corporate emissions, setting SBTs, and developing decarbonization plans. Julia earned her M.S. in Sustainability Management from Columbia University and her B.S.B.A from Washington University in St. Louis.
Greg Streiff - Greg is a private equity investor and M&A executive with 20 years across buyside investing and enterprise business development, specifically in the energy sector. He then founded two businesses: a data-powered marketplace connecting private markets with sustainability and an accelerator providing coaching and go-to-market commercialization to emerging AI companies. Currently, Greg is leveraging his expertise to launch a new permanent capital company.
The conversation will take place on Monday, October 12th in Schnuck Pavilion, Room 202. Food will be provided at 6 pm, with the panel starting at 6:30 pm, and the conversation, moderated by student, Stella Walden. Registration is requested. This panel discussion is hosted by the Environmental Studies Program and the Center for Career Engagement.
